The Artist Statement of Brandy Stark (PhD):

Religions hold a beautiful understanding of the world: We are interconnected to nature and to each other. In nature we find the underlying communal whole, the essence that ties us all together. In community we are to learn to work together and to encourage the bettering of self, community, and the world. I integrate these ideas into my art by incorporating found objects into wire works created by twisting and sewing individual wire pieces together. It is a reminder that everyone and everything has a purpose; the individual is essential to the work and yet becomes absorbed by it. It is my hope that my art will remind the viewer to analyze the relationship they hold with the world around them and to fully engage with the incredible nature of what we experience daily.

I got BEST IN SHOW!  It's my first time with that win ever -- for "Reflections of a Flamingo".
I got this in email:  (7/22/2017)

Howdy Brandy,

Thank you for participating in the jury process for the Art Show for the 2017 World Fantasy Convention in San Antonio. The jurists spent a lot of time on the decisions for acceptance. I am pleased to let you know that you have been accepted into the Art Show for this year’s WFC.

I’ve attached an entry form for the Art Show. Please fill that out and send it in, with payment as soon as possible. I need to have that in hand by August 15, if at all possible. I don’t expect there to be issues with amount of space requested vs. amount of space available.

Once all of the space requests are in hand, I’ll work on setting up my online system for art entry. It allows you to enter in the information for your artwork online and then generate bid sheets and control sheets. This system has been used at ArmadilloCon for over a decade and at the San Antonio WorldCon in 2013.

We have not finalized the address to which mail-in art will be mailed. I hope to have that information by September 1.

Once again, congratulations on your acceptance into WFC 2017! I hope it is successful for everyone.

One Day Tampa Bay jury results

Amanda Cooper <>

Your work has been selected for the Morean Arts Center’s One Day Tampa Bay juried exhibition. It was a difficult decision for the jurors due to the excellent quality of work presented for selection. Out of nearly 400 entries, only 50 were selected for the show. It was a completely blind jury, based only on the artistic merit of each photograph.

We hope you will plan to attend the opening on Saturday, November 11th from 5 to 9pm.

Below are the pieces that were selected for the exhibition:
